David Whitwell 1996 - 2004
Playing Participant in the Legends of Peterborough event March 16th 2008
David “Daffy” Whitwell first dressed for the Pirates as a fourteen year old in their traumatic 1996/97 season when they worked their way through no fewer than nine netminders. Playing backup to Brad Kirkwood, Daffy subsequently shared duties with great netminders such as Dan Dennis, Craig Lindsay and Pasi Raitanen with the Pirates before spending the 2001/02 season under Kevin King’s coaching at Solihull.
Daffy returned to Peterborough as Phantoms starting netminder for the 2002/03 season and went on to collect three trophies before a nagging knee injury forced his early retirement during the 2003/04 season.
A netminder who never let the side down when called upon and one who would probably have kept the #1 slot at Phantoms had it not been for his untimely injury.
