Mike AndrewsMike Andrews 1982 - 1994
Playing Participant in the Legends of Peterborough event March 16th 2008

Mike played his early hockey in Grimsby before signing up to play in Pirates first season in 1982/83. On a relatively inexperienced and lightweight roster, Mike’s size and experience immediately established him as a valuable impact forward who went on to rack up more points than any British player on that first season team.

Mike briefly played under Charlie “Chuck” Taylor at Telford in 1985 before returning to Pirates as a “born again” and highly effective defenceman. Three more seasons in Peterborough were followed by a brief spell with Lee Valley Lions where he made a sensational early 1989/90 season return, hammering a huge slapshot through Pirates netminder John Tague from his own goal line …… and that was when the rink was longer than it is today !

Further brief spells with Humberside and Milton Keynes preceeded Mike’s return to Pirates where he played from 1992 to 1994.

Mike is now based in Manchester where he briefly resurrected his career in the late 90s with ENL side Altrincham Aces where he continued to gain rave reviews as a strong defenceman
