Mark Salisbury 1993 - 1996
Playing Participant in the Legends of Peterborough event March 16th 2008
Mark had been scoring big points in all columns since the mid 1980s with most of the London based clubs and was brought to Peterborough by coach Heavy Evason at the start of the 1993/94 season.
No sooner had Mark arrived than the rink was closed and threatened with extinction as Pirates entered yet another fight for survival. Mark was one of the loyal players who with everything stacked against him, stayed put and battled to keep Peterborough hockey alive.
Mark averaged more than a point a game in his first two seasons - no mean feat in those days as a young British player – before injury cut short his top flight career during the 1995/96 season.
What endeared Mark to the Peterborough fans was his fearless approach to the game that saw him in the thick of the action wherever that action was. If he wasn’t scoring, he was brawling and, at all times, he was a player that made you sit up whenever he took to the ice.
