Stevie Johnson 1989 - 1999
Playing Participant in the Legends of Peterborough event March 16th 2008
Made his debut for Pirates as a sixteen year old in the 1989/90 season, just in time for two Wembley championship seasons under Rocky Saganiuk. The experience served Stevie well and by 1993/94 he was racking up sixty point seasons and standing out as one of the team’s top British players.
Aside from a couple of cameo appearances in the late nineties, Stevie finished his top flight career in the 1995/96 season, still racking up fifty points a season and his retirement was viewed by many as coming way to early. Despite his playing career finishing, Stevie has continued to play a huge role in the coaching of Peterborough juniors and is held in the highest regards by players such as David Clarke.
Today he plays a key role as assistant coach of the Phantoms senior side where he is surely destined to become a hugely popular senior coach in seasons to come.
