Trent KaeseTrent Kaese 1990 - 1993
Playing Participant in the Legends of Peterborough event March 16th 2008

Another player who arrived in Peterborough with a top flight pedigree having been a draft pick with the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres in 1988/89. Trent immediately delivered a string of textbook power-forward performances garnished with one of the most venomous slapshots Peterborough fans had ever seen.

After sitting out ten games with a broken collar bone, Trent returned to find himself a new strike partner in Danny Shea who had briefly played with him at Winston-Salem the previous season. The rest, as they say, is history and embedded as part of Peterborough hockey folklore. The Kaese/Shea partnership powered Pirates all the way to the British Championship Final at Wembley, with Trent delivering a 100 point season that could only be eclipsed by somebody of Shea’s calibre.

Financial pressures on the club forced Trent’s release midway through his second season but he returned for a full campaign in 1992/93 where he again ran riot with a mighty 111 goals from his 52 games. The following season saw Trent join Milton Keynes for a mere 119 goal season before finishing his UK tour with a stint at Blackburn in 1994/95.

Undoubtedly one of the most imposing and popular players ever to wear the Pirates shirt. Trent’s return on 16th March  will be hugely welcomed.
